Stuck in San Antonio? September 9, 2010 S. E. Young (Houston, TX) The delivery package has been in San Antonio since 9/1/10; it's now 9/9/10 -- what's the problem? I am usually please with delivery of Amazon purchases, but not this one.
Great Trimmer & Great Battery August 4, 2010 Mark Just purchased this trimmer two days ago. I had been researching various hedge trimmers that do not use electic cords, ruled out the gas powered units, and decided to give this Black and Decker unit a try. After charging the battery for a full 11 hours, I went to work on a variey of hedges and bushes in my back yard. The cutting ability I would say is above average. It cuts quickly, is well balanced, and easy to handle. Although it will cut branches slightly larger than 1/2 inch in diameter, it does effort somewhat at those sizes. It started to slow down a bit after about 45 minutes of continued use, but it still kept cutting. Overall I would say that the battery gave me slightly over an hour of good workable power. I was able to finish my entire project. I am assuming that the longevity of the battery is due to it being 24 volts rather than 18 volts. The efficiency or deficiency of Black and Decker batteries seems to be a primary concern for many users of Black and Decker's battery powered lawn equipment. So far, this 24v battery has actually exceeded my expectations for power and longevity on one charge. What continued use of this battery results in remains to be seen.
Trimmer July 24, 2010 lower pee dee Easy to use, maintains charge to finish job.You do not get tired from dragging cord around the yard.Lightweight and enough power to do the job.
wow! very happy with this item July 18, 2010 Connie (Georgia, USA) I had an old 14 volt B&D hedge cutter for years, but after going through two batteries for it, I decided to get a new one (also on this new one the battery is interchangeable with the 24 v cordless weedeater I got, so one less style of batteries to have charging).
This thing is GREAT! very very powerful. The longer reach really helps me out too. The casing tends to get hot though after 20 minutes or so of major cutting and I take a break then, but the battery is still going strong. This one is sooooo much better than my old one. It cuts through 1/2 inch branches (I've seen ads that have said 3/4 inch, but it doesn't do that for me, it will jam, but it seems the hardness of the type of shrubs wood is a factor). It's a little bit heavy for me (petite size woman) but still quite manageable.
My property is quite large and it is so useful to not have to string 100ft extension cords together (I know, not safe) and using a gas powered one is not an option for me.
I would highly recommend this product (also the B&D 24 volt weed eater!)
Black & Decker 24 Volt Cordless Hedge Trimmer July 14, 2010 Karen A. Acone (Winthrop, MA) I read a few reviews on this trimmer and was a bit hesitant to buy it at first, just because of the battery complaints, but being a female I didn't want to deal with gas or cords so I bought it...glad I did, I have had no issues with the battery dying on me and it did quite a bit of my yard and was still running when I finished for the day. It was comfortable to use, the only draw back was after a while it did seem to get heavy, but I rested and went right back to it. I would definitely recommend this item.
